More about DEBOD House
At 12 Louvain Street in Whakatāne, DEBOD House brings independent health and wellbeing practitioners together in one welcoming place.

A shared place for wellbeing
Tina and Steve Buckler were the founders of Debod House.
Tina's vision grew from her own passion for caring for people as a therapist and her desire to create a place where others could come together to support health and wellbeing. For more than a decade, Tina poured her heart, knowledge and energy into Debod, building relationships with clients and practitioners and creating the sense of community that became such an important part of the house.
Alongside Tina was Steve, whose practical skills, creativity and building knowledge helped bring her vision to life. Together, they transformed the property into a welcoming space where people could come for care, connection and support.
In 2023, I had the privilege of purchasing the Debod House business from Tina. Around the same time, the building was purchased by a close friend, and together we have continued to care for and develop the space, building on the foundations that Tina and Steve created.
Taking on Debod House has felt like becoming the next custodian of something that already had a heart.
Tina created the vision. Steve helped build it. And the people who have walked through these doors over the years have helped fill it with life.
There is something special about a place that carries the stories of the people who have cared for it. Steve's presence can still be felt in the walls of Debod House — in the spaces he helped create and in the spirit of care, connection, and community that continues within them. His legacy lives on here, alongside Tina's vision and the many people who have contributed to Debod's story.
Today, Debod House continues to evolve as a collaborative home for independent health and wellbeing practitioners. Each practitioner brings their own knowledge, experience and passion, while sharing a common belief in supporting people through different stages of their wellbeing journey.
For me, Debod House is more than a collection of treatment rooms. I want it to feel grounded, warm and homely — somewhere people feel welcome, comfortable and cared for.
I feel very privileged to continue the story that Tina and Steve began, while allowing Debod House to grow into its next chapter.
Honouring where we have come from, caring for where we are today, and continuing to grow together.
The purpose is simple: make it easier for people to find a range of health and wellbeing support in one place, while giving practitioners the benefits of working alongside a wider community.
The words “Stronger Together” express that collaborative purpose. They reflect a house where different practices remain independent and connection still matters.
